jean nouvelle

This week has been a tough week for me...All I did is almost like nothing due to my machine that kept on freezing for more than 8 minutes respectively. Besides that I can say I am enjoying myself at work and I am learning a lot about Cad drawing techniques through the supportive staff of Revel Fox architects. On Fridays we watch documentaries of architects based on the analyses of their buildings. This has been an exciting activity for me because  these i have learned a lot about the impacts of design in the community and the challenges that architects face before the building gets erected, most of the bullding. Today we watched a documentary of the Nemausus building by an architect Jean Nouvel. The building  is situated in France was and it was built in 1985-1987.It function was to serve as a social housing building with no compromise in the space, light and air. What inspired the architect in his design is the principle of maximizing space, air and light. Nemausus is a five story building supported by concrete columns which create an open air parking lot that also serves a play area for the children of the tenants. The materials used is concrete and a steel for the balustrade.

The building is by large steel stair case and a an elevator that gives transparency to the building which land to the  5 meter balcony that also as a streets of the building. The width of the building's living space is 5 meters divided by unfinished concrete walls.Extreme simplicity is what the architect went for in the design of the Namausus. The Namausus is an extremely timeless design building that still accommodate  the functions of its inhabitants and also  saves costs on maintenance due the materials and finishes used.
